Hagerstown, Maryland (DC News Now) — Hundreds of entrepreneurs flocked to Hagerstown Community College to start or grow their businesses.

Starting a small business can be a scary experience, but Hagerstown has support groups to help budding entrepreneurs take the plunge.

Ryan Sulcheck, founder and CEO of Araza Natural Purees, attended a community college workshop to get feedback from his peers.

“We are all entrepreneurs in the sense that we are growing together,” Sarczek said. “So we depend on each other and there are ups and downs in life as an entrepreneur.”

Caroline Crosby took home top honors at Monday’s gathering for her successful launch of a restaurant at the popular Black Rock Golf Course outside Hagerstown.

“It was a great experience as a small business owner,” Crosby said. “I think we’re transitioning from the pandemic to the whole process.”

Rhett Eklund said she feels she needs guidance on the dental center’s expansion plans.

“You know the old saying,” Eklund said. “What got you here won’t get you there. I have a responsibility to make sure the company is the best place to grow.”

Bringing together experts and people like Rhett can be a great source of sound business practices, advice, and inspiration.

“I know there are a lot of great minds here,” Eklund said. “I can’t wait to take advantage of some of them.”
