Hong Kong Baptist University recently organized a Greater Bay Area Startup Exploration Trip to foster students’ entrepreneurial spirit.
A team of about 20 students participated in the trip, which visited startup facilities and technology companies in Nansha and Guangzhou. The HKBU Career Center’s Entrepreneurial Learning Team coordinated the itinerary.
During the visit, students had a unique opportunity to interact with young entrepreneurs at Nansha Innovation Bay. This location served as an incubation hub for numerous startups, including companies from Hong Kong and Macau. We also interacted with students from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) to further expand our network and knowledge.
As part of the trip’s aim to raise students’ awareness of environmental, social and governance issues, various activities were organized that exposed them to urban mobility technologies. They had the opportunity to ride a self-driving robotaxis and a Guangzhou tram. Additionally, they visited XPeng Motors, a Guangzhou-based electric vehicle manufacturer, to gain insight into advances in sustainable transportation.
In addition to the technology-focused visit, students also had the opportunity to explore the field of agritech. They visited Xag, an agritech company that utilizes drones and remote vehicles for tasks such as seeding, fertilizing, and watering. This innovative approach helps save labor and increase efficiency in agriculture.
