Alice Stewart, a CNN political commentator who worked on multiple Republican presidential campaigns, has died. She was 58 years old.
Stewart’s body was found early Saturday morning outside in the Bellevue neighborhood of northern Virginia, police said. CNN. Officials said they do not suspect foul play and believe there was a medical emergency. Her cause of death was not immediately known.
“Alice was a very dear friend and colleague to all of us at CNN,” network CEO Mark Thompson said in an email to staff on Saturday, CNN reported. An award-winning journalist who brought unparalleled brilliance to CNN’s reporting, she was known throughout our bureau not just for her political knowledge but for her unwavering kindness. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn this loss.”
Born March 11, 1966 in Atlanta, Georgia, Stewart began his career as a local news reporter and producer. She eventually moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, to become a news anchor, she said. Harvard International Review In 2020.
Stewart later served as communications director in then-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s office, a position he held during his 2008 presidential campaign.
Over the next few years, she served as communications director for several other Republican campaigns, including those of former Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Ta.
Stewart later joined CNN as a political commentator ahead of the 2016 election and appeared frequently on the air.She was also the co-host of the podcast hot mic from left to rightwith CNN commentator Maria Cardona.
When speaking about her role as a commentator for the network, she previously said: Harvard University Political Review In 2020, she said she brought “a perspective that I think CNN appreciates.”
“My position at CNN is to be a conservative voice but also an independent thinker,” Stewart continued at the time. “I’m not one to drink the Kool-Aid. I was never Trump, and I never checked my common sense or decency in voting for[Trump].”
Her last appearance on the network was Friday Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.
