Texas football is set to begin its summer visiting season in the next few weeks. The first big visit weekend of the summer is Texas Elite Camp, which begins in June (held the weekend of June 1st).
The Texas Elite camp will feature top talent from the 2026 recruiting class, including top quarterback priorities Troy Hune and Dia Bell.
And next week will be the first big visiting weekend of the summer for the 2025 recruits. Texas’ first official visit weekend will be held June 7-9. Texas is focusing on a combination of in-state and out-of-state prospects that will primarily consist of guys in the trenches on both sides of the ball heading into a June weekend for what will be the first official trip of 2025.
The first of two major official visit weekends will be held from June 14th to 16th. Texas is already scheduled to welcome more than a dozen official visitors for its second big visitation weekend next month.
Another large group of official visitors will be on the Longhorns campus the weekend of June 21st.
The summer visiting season has been an offseason focus for head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff in their recruiting efforts. Texas tends to load up on commitments during and immediately after summer official visits, as most recruits want to finish the recruiting process before the start of the fall football season.
Here are four priority recruits who are trending for the Longhorns entering their summer official visit in June.
Texas is one of five finalists for touted four-star Shreveport (Los Angeles) Calvary Baptist running back James Simon, whose decision date is scheduled for May 29. Other schools in Simon’s top five are the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies and Alabama Crimson Tide.
Running back coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns are considered the frontrunners to acquire Simon, with an announcement date in late May. Simon has made several successful visits to Texas since the start of this offseason, including the spring game about a month ago.
Texas is also the only school Simon is scheduled to officially visit this summer (the weekend of June 21st).
