Judges recently awarded cash prizes to seven Weld County students for their business plan presentations at the Youth Entrepreneurship Fair.
Middle and high school students from northeast Colorado attended a youth entrepreneurship fair in Wiggins last week sponsored by Generation Schools Network, Ogallala Commons and WeathLive, according to a news release from Generation Schools Network.
More than 100 students participated in a Shark Tank-style competition and presented their business plans to a panel of judges, according to the release. According to Generation Schools Network CEO Wendy Loloff-Cooper, the fair allows young entrepreneurs in rural Colorado to develop business plans, get feedback and develop plans to further develop their business concepts. He says it can be done.
“Building their entrepreneurial talent, social capital and financial capital in their own backyard is critical to the future of rural Colorado,” Roloff-Cooper said.
Thanks to the OtterCares Foundation, which is sponsoring the event for the third year in a row, top winners will receive a share of $6,000 in prize money, according to a release.
