SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah David Eccles School of Business continues to earn high marks for entrepreneurship, recently ranking Entrepreneurs in 2024, according to the U.S. News & World Report rankings. Ranked 12th in the MBA ranking for psychology.
The program’s position in the rankings is also fifth best in the nation among public schools.
The latest rankings follow U.S. News and World Report in September 2023, which ranked Eccles School No. 7 overall for undergraduate entrepreneurship programs in 2024 and No. 4 among public schools.
“The University of Utah has a growing number of opportunities for entrepreneurs, and we welcome everyone to learn more and get involved,” Jennifer Brown, chair of the Eccles School of Entrepreneurship and Strategy, said in a statement. The school’s position in this year’s rankings is also due to the continued growth and development of entrepreneurship education in the Eccles School, the School of Entrepreneurship and Strategy, and the Lassonde Institute for Entrepreneurship.
Lassonde Studios, part of the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, is a living-learning community where students of all majors and backgrounds can live while creating and launching business ideas. It is located in a five-story building in the heart of campus, with innovation space on the ground floor and dormitory space on the upper floors.
This school and the Lassonde Institute have student success stories that make their rankings count.
In February, Lassonde University student Sadie Bowler successfully launched her company, Sadie B Personal Care, with 507 Target stores nationwide.
“We really want to expand further into retail. We have about 2,000 Target stores, so we’ll expand into the rest of Target’s stores, then Ulta, Walmart, Krueger, and then globally in Canada. ,” Bowler said.
Another innovative curriculum addition for student entrepreneurs is the Eccles School’s Master of Business Creativity program. The program focuses on helping founders grow and expand their companies. In 2023, the program expanded to include online options, allowing for more flexibility.
On the undergraduate side, the Eccles School launched the Lassonde+X program in 2019, a three-course program for undergraduates to “Learn Entrepreneurship.”
The Lassonde Founders program, also under the Lassonde umbrella, is a residential entrepreneurial community for freshmen who are active entrepreneurs. There will also be an option for graduates, with Lassonde For Life launching in his 2022, where all university graduates, regardless of degree, will receive ‘lifelong’ entrepreneurial support, including workshops, networking opportunities and more .
