Roadblocks emerge as Brad Pitt’s F1 movie shoot costs reportedly set to soar to record amount

Brad Pitt’s yet-to-be-named F1 movie is expected to be one of the most expensive films ever made, according to a report in a Hollywood publication.

Announced in 2021, the film will be produced by Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski and will co-star Brad Pitt and Damson Idris in a fictional F1 story.

Brad Pitt’s F1 movie is expensive to make

According to leading American Hollywood-focused publication Puck, the untitled F1 movie’s budget has ballooned to more than $300 million, making it one of the most expensive films ever made.

The film follows a fictional F1 driver named Sonny Hayes, played by Bitt, who comes out of retirement to help coach Joshua Pearce, played by Idris.

The cast also includes Tobias Menzies, Kelly Condon, Javier Bardem, and Lewis Hamilton. The project began in 2021 and was produced for Apple, but the film’s name, distributor, and release date have not yet been decided.

According to the report, there are several reasons why this film is set to be one of the most expensive films ever made. At over $300 million in production costs, it ranks just outside the top 10 most expensive films of all time, tied for 11th place. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Justice League, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Costs are said to have skyrocketed because production began just before the SAG-AFTRA strike began causing costs to increase significantly.

Plus, the production features real actors in real race cars. Although this was not actually the case, as Pitt was seen driving a modified F2 APXGP car for ‘his team’ provided by Mercedes during the F1 race weekend at last year’s British Grand Prix, session.

Rising costs also suggest the film may face tough challenges making a profit, especially given the niche subject matter of F1.

The Hollywood-focused publication puts a film’s break-even point at 2 to 2.5 times its budget. This means that it would need to make at least $600 million at the box office to break even, and it’s likely he’ll make between $750 million and $900 million.

To date, only 54 films have grossed $1 billion at the box office, and only 71 have grossed more than $900 million. As a result, Pitt’s star power will need to be firing on all cylinders if the obscure F1 movie is to turn a profit.

The pits, along with the current boom in popularity of F1, are a big draw for the film, but like many of the top-grossing films of the past, the film is a major draw from an already established major franchise. We also have to contend with the fact that we are not part of it.

For the film to turn a profit based on its reported budget, it would have to be Pitt’s career-highest grossing film. His record to date is his 2013 film world war zwhich brought in $540 million in box office revenue.

The film will help F1 become hugely popular around the world, thanks to the efforts of Liberty Media and its introduction of digital and social media, which will continue to increase viewership in the US. It is a fact that we are proud of.

Add to that the fact that theatrical release isn’t the only indicator of success, as the film will also be released on Apple TV, given that it’s an Apple production. That is, box office receipts are reported as typical. Cover distribution and advertising.
