This grant opportunity, offered by the SBA’s Veterans Business Development Office, helps women veterans become entrepreneurs by assisting with the planning stages of a new business or finding new ways to grow an existing small business. Daniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University: Veteran Women Igniting Entrepreneurship (V-WISE) (Syracuse, NY) – $150,000
The V-WISE program is an intensive three-phase program that includes a 15-day online preparation course, a three-day training program, and post-training technical support. This program helps female veterans and military spouses find their passion and learn the business-savvy skills they need to turn their ideas and start-ups into growing ventures.
Onaben: Beyond the Boots: Efforts by Veterans and Service Members (Tulsa, Oklahoma) – $75,000
ONABEN is a nonprofit organization that provides economic and entrepreneurial development services to the Native American business community. The Beyond the Boots program equips women veterans, military personnel, and military spouses to grow in business, explore the importance of social entrepreneurship, and support small businesses through culturally appropriate capacity building, peer coaching, and entrepreneurial activities. We provide resources to help you overcome your challenges.
Utah Veterans Business Resource Center (VBRC) at Salt Lake Community College: Startup Training Resources to Inspire Veteran Entrepreneurs (STRIVE) (Salt Lake City, Utah) – $75,000
STRIVE is a 10-week business building course tailored to the unique choices women have to overcome the bias and other situations they face in business. The STRIVE program is offered in partnership with Syracuse University’s Daniello Institute for Veterans and Families (IVMF), the National Association of Community College Educators (NACCE), and her VBRC. SBA’s support from her WVETP will enable 220 female veterans to participate in this program, expanding economic opportunity and empowering Utah’s military women and their families. .
