Kansas Jayhawks football trending upwards with transfer portal DE to Michigan State University

Several Kansas football players entered the transfer portal during the recent period following the end of spring practice, but the Jayhawks came away largely unscathed. Rumors surrounding star cornerback Kobe Bryant and others have subsided, and no key contributors left the program.

Head coach Lance Leipold kept most of the talent in Lawrence, but the coaching staff is working to strengthen the current roster through the portal. One player the Jayhawks are particularly interested in is former Michigan State University DE Bay Jobe. Steve Wiltfong of On3.com It was reported that an official visit to the KU campus has been confirmed.

After one season in East Lansing, Jobe decided to go portering when the spring window opened. This was a big loss for the Spartans, as he was the No. 55 player in the 2023 recruiting class and No. 7 on EDGE. Now, Kansas is looking to bring in a once-highly touted prospect to fill the hole left when Austin Booker entered the NFL Draft.

The redshirt freshman has all four years of eligibility remaining and will be getting a fresh start at a new school. Jobe has an impressive physique, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 252 pounds. A graduate of Community Christian School in Norman, Oklahoma, he was considered one of the top edge rushers in his graduating year.

Jobe, a native of Senegal, only started playing soccer in 2018 when he arrived in the United States, but his physical tools are incredible and his pass-rushing moves are explosive off the edge. If Jobe contributes to Kansas football, he won’t be an immediate contributor, but he could be a star with the right development.

Other schools involved in his recruitment include Mississippi State and UTSA. MSU is expected to receive Jobe’s first visit this weekend and is considered the frontrunner in the race to land him. If Kansas State is pursuing him hard, they have to make sure he doesn’t get involved on the first visit. He will then head to Lawrence.

Given what Leipold’s staff has done with DE transfers in the past, Ronnie Phelps and Booker were great additions to the front four — it’s easy to see why Jayhawk fans would be excited about Jobe. His decision is expected to be made within weeks after completing his visit.
