AUGUSTA – New Ventures Maine will offer 20 free workshops and classes across the state in May in three program areas: small business, career building, and financial education. Workshops and classes are designed to help Maine people gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to build a career, start a business, and manage their money.

Career Workshop: Tuesdays, May 7th to 21st. 12:00 – 1:00 PM Online.
Ready for a new job or career change? Attend one, two, or all three workshops. May 7: Employment Strategies. May 14: Restart strategy. May 21: Interview strategies.
Career Choices: Tuesday, May 14th, 4:00pm – 5:00pm Online.
Are you ready for a career change but don’t know where to start? This workshop will point you in the right direction. Learn what to consider when choosing a career and the resources to help you succeed.

Grow your business online (GYBO): at your own pace. online.
Gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to create attractive websites for small businesses. Work at your own pace. Complete by June 30, 2024.
Business Basics: Wednesdays, May 8-22 (3 sessions), 10:00-11:30 a.m. Online.
This class covers business planning, marketing, and financial planning. Evaluate the feasibility, desirability, and viability of your business idea and start planning.
Exploring Self-Employment: Thursday, May 9th, 12:00 – 1:00pm Online.
This one-hour workshop will cover the pros and cons of owning your own business, the steps required to get started, the key elements of a business plan, and the many resources to help you succeed.

Money Management Workshop: Held online Thursdays, May 9th-23rd, 10am-11am.
Learn how to create a budget, repair your credit, and create a savings plan. May 9: Budgeting Basics. May 16: Let’s talk about credits. May 23: Build up your savings.
My Money Works: Online Thursdays (5 sessions) from May 16th to June 13th from 6pm to 7pm.
The skills you need to make plans and set personal financial goals to grow money, pay bills, reduce debt, save, plan for retirement, and achieve greater financial security. and gain confidence.
My Money Works will be available in-person starting May 6 in Brunswick and May 14 in Bangor.
