The Open School of Bangladesh Open University, in collaboration with Bangladesh Online Entrepreneurs Association (BOEA), hosted a seminar titled “Empowering Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs: Unleashing the Potential of Online Entrepreneurs.”
The event, held at the BOU Ghazipur campus on Monday, brought together academics and officials to explore online entrepreneurship and its impact on the future of Bangladesh’s economy, a press release said.
The seminar featured Mr. Akhtaruzzaman Sarkar, General Secretary of BOEA and Senior Vice President of Shahjalal Islamic Bank PLC as the keynote speaker.
Sarkar emphasized the transformative power of digital innovation and networking in reshaping traditional business models.
He highlighted the important role of online platforms, which provide both opportunities and challenges for entrepreneurs, and emphasized the importance of digital literacy, cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks in ensuring the success of online businesses. .
BOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Humayun Akhter addressed the audience and highlighted the university’s efforts to leverage its extensive network, including regional and sub-regional centres, to support entrepreneurship development initiatives in line with the government’s Online Smart Bangladesh Agenda did.
Professor Sabina Yesmin, Dean of the Open School, announced plans for an e-learning program on entrepreneurship development, leveraging appropriate digital platforms, in partnership with BOEA.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Prof. Nasim Banu, Vice Chancellor (Administrator), Prof. Mostafa Azad Kamal, Treasurer, Registrar MD Dr. Shafiqul Alam, Deans, Directors, Teachers and Staff attended.
Open School faculty member Dr. Mizanor Rahman coordinated the seminar.
A highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BOU and BOEA, formalizing a partnership to jointly develop and deliver academic programs on entrepreneurship development.
BOU Registrar Dr. Md Shafiqul Alam and President Online Entrepreneurs Association Mostari Morshed Smriti signed the memorandum on behalf of the institutions, BOU vice-chancellors, deans and directors who will be active at the BOU campus in Ghazipur for the next five years. .
Teachers and staff members also attended the ceremony.
