Report finds Huawei’s DigiTruck training helps improve income, employment, and entrepreneurship

Nairobi, Kenya, April 29, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The Government of Kenya and Huawei Kenya today released an independent evaluation report of the digital skills training provided by the DigiTruck program.

One of the key benefits of the DigiTruck program is its maneuverability, allowing training to be delivered even in hard-to-reach areas.

“To facilitate the optimal adoption of digital infrastructure, it is essential to have the right level of digital skills, which is why this DigiTruck program helps. Each course is 40 hours long and provides training in digital and soft skills, including starting an online business, writing a resume, and applying for jobs online. A survey of 800 of the more than 4,000 youth trained over a four-year period revealed positive tangible outcomes that matter to beneficiaries. Some of the key findings include:

  • 93% of respondents said their work ability had improved.
  • 79% said they share their digital skills with others in their community and foster a culture of empowerment.
  • Respondents reported a 6% decline in unemployment and a 7% decline in self-employment.
  • 35% of respondents cited increased income from starting a business using new digital skills.
