FOX News’ sudden silence on Biden impeachment campaign speaks volumes

Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) undoubtedly expected an effort by House Republicans to impeach the president. joe biden It will end with a glorious victory. As chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, Comer has poured everything into his campaign to bring Biden down, with witnesses too sketchy to rely on and theories too wild to even consider. There is no argument. In the end, he and his compatriots will have to wait until the end of the Biden scandal when the horrors of the president’s misdeeds are fully exposed, the public recoils in disgust, and the Republican Party tries to balance out the mounting scandals surrounding the Trump administration. I was confident that I would get it. Even if the Senate fails to convict him, it will be impossible for a humiliated Biden to win re-election.

Things don’t work out the way Comer and his colleagues had hoped. Only Javert of the Republican Bush League was humiliated. CNN reported, “Mr. Comer recently approached one of his Republican colleagues and freely admitted that he intended to ‘end’ the impeachment inquiry into Mr. Biden.” And the Republicans and their media allies want you to forget all about it.

The Oversight Committee has long been an important forum for opposition parties to vilify the president. It can issue subpoenas, hold public hearings, and publish reports to carry out its mission of monitoring the government. Instead of stocking his committees with the cream of his caucus, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy put the most idiotic thugs of House Republicans on the committees, including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Paul Gosar. I was given a seat.

At the first official impeachment hearing last September, the Republicans’ own star expert witness Admitted There was no evidence that Biden committed an impeachable crime.one of the republican aides called a public hearing “Unmitigated disaster.” And nothing got better from there.

In between hearings, Comer and other members appeared on television, throwing out words like “bribery” and “money laundering.” Without being able to substantiate their claims, they claimed that various interests funneled millions of dollars into the president’s pockets. “This is one of the greatest crimes in American history that I have ever studied.” Comer said.. The exact details are less clear. [the Biden family] They received tens of millions of dollars from bad people in bad countries. I don’t know what exactly they did,” Comer explained at one point. But it just proved what a great criminal Biden is.

Time and time again, they discover some new information, rush toward the cameras, declare they’ve found smoking gun proof, and then their case falls apart when the plain truth comes out. I looked at it. Comer breathlessly revealed that the president’s younger brother, James Biden, donated $200,000 to his brother in 2018. There was definitely something fishy going on! However, it turned out that it was a repayment for a loan that the future president had given James two months earlier. The fact that the check had “loan repayment” written on it may have been a clue.

As the days passed, the investigation became more and more farcical. A key witness who was touted by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) as a “highly reliable confidential source” has been indicted on charges of lying to the FBI and falsifying records, and has been charged with lying to the FBI and falsifying records. It turned out that they may have been working together. Each hearing was more absurd than the last, with witnesses tearing the case against Biden to shreds and Democrats mercilessly mocking their Republican colleagues.

Republican cases have always centered around the president’s poor son Hunter, whose struggles with addiction and sometimes debauchery are well known. Republicans publicly expressed outrage at Hunter’s use of his family name in between releasing nude selfies of him. It’s a timeless habit of people with ties that never drew the ire of Republicans, even when Donald Trump’s family did it, for example. Their obsession with Hunter was so intense that even when the president’s son was indicted on tax and gun charges by the Justice Department, Comer fabricated it as a cover-up.

But as a spate of irregularities at the commission continued, Comer and others realized this was a lost cause. The same goes for conservative media. In 2023, there were an astonishing 325 segments about Hunter Biden on Sean Hannity’s show alone. Once it became clear that impeachment was going nowhere, Fox News stopped talking about it.

That silence only serves as a stark reminder that these hearings were not designed to root out corruption, but to score political points. Trump was first impeached for pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to launch a false investigation into Biden in an effort to discredit him ahead of the 2020 election. You may remember what happened. Kamel and House Republicans accomplished what Zelensky refused.

But despite the best efforts of some of the worst House Republicans, the investigation found no corruption whatsoever. That’s not to say Biden is a paragon of moral purity. He has done some questionable things, including taking a position at the University of Pennsylvania with a high salary and little responsibility after his vice presidentship. While this type of sweetheart deal may be a little unsightly, it’s not illegal or unusual for someone in his position.

But corruption is something entirely different, and there is absolutely no credible evidence that Biden is corrupt. Mr. Biden’s fruitless quest for criminal wrongdoing is especially ironic, given that Republicans are working hard to restore perhaps the most corrupt president in history to the White House. They still support him in arguing before the Supreme Court that a president must be immune from prosecution for any crimes he may have committed while in office. So if you want to find corruption, you know where to look.
