Luke Burgis, an entrepreneur with experience in Wall Street finance and Silicon Valley startups, founded Catholic Entrepreneurship and Design Experience (CEDE), an initiative aimed at cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit within the Catholic community. Did. CEDE designs platforms and programs that foster innovation and creativity and promote the harmonious integration of professional mission and faith.
After making his mark in the fields of technology and finance, Burgis felt the need for a more purposeful path that returned to his Catholic roots. This realization led him to birth CEDE in 2020, aiming to unite Catholics around the world on a platform where they can more conveniently exercise their faith. Since its founding, CEDE has made great strides in engaging the Catholic community and expanding Catholic education globally.
Bridging faith and entrepreneurship in the Catholic community
By 2022, we will revolutionize the integration of the Catholic Church with modern technology.
CEDE not only provides spiritual enrichment, but also practical solutions to several challenges related to the church. Digital solutions and online religious education platforms are part of the steps taken by CEDE to support the evolution of the Catholic Church in the modern world.
At the Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, D.C., Burgis holds the role of Entrepreneur and Resident and Clinical Assistant Professor of Business at CEDE. His hands-on teaching approach and connections with the larger business community have proven invaluable to many budding business leaders.
Burgis developed CEDE to bridge the gap between Catholic social principles and real-world business situations. CEDE fosters innovative thinking, resilience and creativity in learners, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning process and move from being mere participants to creators in the business world.
Finally, Burgis plans to launch a 10-week digital summer entrepreneurship course for high school students. This course aims to provide an overview of business establishment and equip learners with important professional skills. CEDE’s pedagogy does not encourage traditional rules-based educational models, instead emphasizing experiential learning, creative problem solving, and autonomy, and encourages students to not only succeed as entrepreneurs, but also practice ethical practices.
