Brooks Instrument acquires creative machining technology

Hatfield, PA – April 18, 2024 – Brooks Instrument, a global leader in advanced flow measurement and control, has acquired Creative Machining Technology of Corona, California. The acquisition was completed on April 1, 2024 under Brooks Instrument’s parent company, Illinois Tool Works (ITW).

Creative Machining Technology (CMT) provides a variety of machining and manufacturing services, from individual component manufacturing to finished item manufacturing, kitting, and assembly.

The company has been a major supplier to Brooks Instruments for many years, with core competencies rooted in high-precision CNC machining. CMT has proven expertise in manufacturing and polishing ultra-high purity components to extremely tight tolerances for demanding applications such as semiconductor manufacturing.

“By integrating creative machining techniques into Brooks Instruments, we are strengthening our in-house expertise in critical machined components and machining capabilities, and expanding our supply chain to produce ultra-high purity equipment. ” said Brent Best, Vice President and General Manager. — Brooks Instrument Semiconductor Division, an ITW company. “Furthermore, we have strengthened our ability to quickly respond to our customers’ R&D requests to create more innovative flow measurement and control solutions.”

CMT has extensive experience manufacturing to 0.0001 inch tolerances. This proficiency and his CMT manufacturing facilities enable Brooks Instrument to more quickly and effectively design and manufacture complex wetted flow path components for the company’s industry-leading mass flow controllers (MFCs). It will be. In addition, CMT has Class 1,000 and Class 10,000 clean rooms for processing and handling highly sensitive electronic components that require a controlled environment.

“This acquisition is part of our strategic approach to align with the expected growth in this area and achieve long-term success in the semiconductor market,” Best said. “We are excited to have CMT join Brooks Instrument as we continue to focus on continuous improvement, expanding our technology offerings, and meeting the needs of our customers.”

The acquisition of CMT is the latest in Brooks Instrument’s efforts to serve the semiconductor industry. Earlier this year, the company launched its new GF120xHT series mass flow controllers for high temperature environments, and last year opened a new manufacturing site in Malaysia to expand production and partnership opportunities with key customers in the Asia Pacific region.
