RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — 7th Annual Meeting mushroom mania festival This Saturday is approaching, Richmond Moon Market I spoke with 8News about what’s coming this year.
The 7th annual Mushroom Mania Festival kicks off at 12pm on Saturday, April 20th at Stone Brewing, 4300 Williamsburg Avenue in Richmond.

Lauren said she started the festival because she wanted to share her passion and knowledge about mushrooms and the fungi kingdom with others.
“I started this festival through the Richmond Moon Market to help people learn more about mushrooms and what they offer us,” Lauren said. “I didn’t know anything, so the more I learned, the more I was shocked.”
This year’s festival will include markets, guest speakers, panel discussions, workshops, educational opportunities, dance gatherings, live music, and costumed content. The festival is free to the public, but donations to Richmond Moon’s Market are welcome.
“There’s going to be a lot going on at Stone Brewing, from the second floor to the second floor and the outdoor patio,” Lauren said. “It’s going to be a really big day.”
Lauren told 8News there are more than 40 local vendors selling mushrooms, art, plants, vintage items, jewelry, home decor, pottery and more. There will also be live music, dance gathering performances, learning opportunities, craft beer and food from the Live Buena Taco Truck.
“This is my seventh year as a mushroom fanatic,” Lauren said. “We have a really, really great line-up of presenters this year, and I really think this is going to be our best year yet.”
Nick from Koji House will also be one of the presenters, explaining Koji and its benefits to guests at the Koji 101 Workshop.
“For those who don’t know, Koji is an edible mold and part of the larger kingdom of fungi,” Nick says. “What it is, its uses, its history, its cultural significance, how it is used today, how it is trying to revolutionize it, and how we at Koji House are part of it. Let’s talk about how it plays a role.”
“This workshop is really useful because we also have experts from around the world participating.” Sanjay International Yuli Factory We’re going up the road,” Lauren said. “And they will be collaborating on a project to make their own soy sauce koji mushrooms, so please come and make your own seasoning.”
Each year, Mushroom Mania also hosts a panel discussion called “The Current State of Psychoactive Plants and Fungi in Virginia,” hosted by Dr. Alaina Juster of Psychedelic Neuroscience.
Furthermore, at the festival, little saints, a non-alcoholic cocktail drink. For the first time, the brand created an espresso martini with mushrooms.
Lauren said Mushroom Mania is an event the whole family can enjoy.
“We also hold screenings of a very cute manga called.” mash mash & the mashables. “It’s a really gentle children’s cartoon about nature, kindness and friendship,” Lauren said.
At the end of the night, there will be a costume contest with prizes including cash and a new edition of Mushroom People Magazine.
