Srinagar, April 15: In a bid to encourage local entrepreneurs and revive the sericulture industry in Jammu and Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director of Sericulture J&K, has established a private silk reeling company M/S Bombix in Cidco. I visited Mori Silk & Textiles. Industrial Park in Kanmaw, Srinagar.
During the visit, the sericulture director interacted with the management and workers of the silk reeling sector and gained insight into their operations. He was informed that this unit had spooled his 11,000 kg of silk thread and that he was utilizing 1.5 million kg of green cocoons to manufacture 2,00 lac meters of silk cloth.
Impressed by the entrepreneurship and contribution of the sector to job creation and economic growth, Mr. Bhat praised the establishment and said that such ventures will be undertaken to harness the economic potential of the sericulture industry in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of supporting businesses.
The Director of Sericulture highlighted the Department’s commitment to providing entrepreneurs in the sericulture sector with the necessary support and cooperation and ensuring a conducive environment for their growth and success. He also urged other local entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in silk reeling and related sectors, adding that the ministry, industry stakeholders and the entrepreneurial community are in great need to realize the full potential of sericulture in the region. , emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among young people.
