Five student teams have been selected to participate in this year’s Fairfield Startup Showcase, which will be held on Thursday, April 25, at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on the Fairfield University campus.

Doors open at 6:30pm and showcase begins at 7pm. The winning team will be awarded a cash prize by a panel of investors.

Fairfield University will award the team $30,000 in a showcase seed grant to help the startup scale. The Shark Tank-style entrepreneurship event is free and open to the public.

· $2,500 for Honorable Mention.

· 3rd place winner gets $5,000

· $7,500 for runner-up

· $12,500 for top teams

Last semester, students went through a series of workshops to develop their pitch presentation skills. The teams were then invited to pitch in front of the judges during the qualifying round.

The next five teams make it through that round and work weekly with their mentors to finalize their business plans and practice their pitches in preparation for the live showcase event.

• Pathway Pro is an empowering tool for higher education students to bridge the gap between career and curriculum with comprehensive insights for efficient course planning, career preparation, and progress tracking.

• More advanced skills is a student-centric SaaS platform that leverages reactive AI and machine learning to hone the soft skills essential to success in the workplace. Our immersive simulation analyzes students’ abilities and provides personalized insights to advance their careers.

“This year we have fun students and ideas to work with. Students are from all graduation years, and most participants are not business majors,” said Dr. Chris Huntley, Startup Program Director. Masu.

The 2024 investor panel includes:

—Joseph R. (Joe) Bronson ’70 currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Principal of Bronson Group LLC, a business advisory group founded in 2011 focused on operational and financial consulting.

—Chris Hillock ’00 leads portfolio development for Dell Technologies Capital, the venture capital arm of Dell Technologies.

—Jamie Ramellini ’13 currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of COMPEL CEOs, a thriving family business. Ramerini brings a wealth of experience and strategic vision to move the company forward.

—Mindy Blanco P’24 is Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Barnum Financial Group. Barnum Financial Group is an award-winning firm with more than 500 advisors and associates serving 280,000 clients nationwide.

—Thomas M. Scalera ’93 is CEO of Deltics Group. He is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ITT Inc., a $3 billion global manufacturer of engineering solutions for industrial, energy, and transportation markets.

This year’s StartUp host is Mariana Antaya ’23, Product Manager at Microsoft Teams and Founder of fintech startup quantifAI, founded in 2022 at Fairfield Startup. Antaya actively teaches product management, big tech, and startups on Tik Tok and online community Product House.
