Mauricio Bustamante MBA’24 worked to solve one of the most pressing problems of our lifetime: plastic pollution in our oceans. As one of his 15 students selected from institutions such as MIT, New York University, and Babson College, he traveled to New York City to participate in the Global Impact Sprint hosted by his HPI School of Entrepreneurship. I visited.

Over five days, he and his colleagues developed several innovative solutions. And when all was said and done, Bustamante returned home with the conviction that when individuals unite and unite behind a common cause, remarkable results can be achieved.

As a leader in the Miami MBA contemporaries and graduate community at large, Bustamante is an active member of the Butler Launch Pad, a Blank Center Seed Fund recipient, and a Miami chapter leader of the Babson Acceleration Club.

As he prepares for graduation on May 11, Bustamante is reflecting on his time at Babson and thinking about what’s next.

What are your plans after graduation?

“I would like to further my career in new product management, working with companies that are committed to purpose and innovation. My ambition is to leverage the entrepreneurial insights I gained from my MBA. , to create businesses that are not only profitable and scalable, but also meaningful and impactful.”

What was your favorite class or professor?

“Professors Ron Pirantozzi and Jay Rao, in particular, have had a tremendous influence on my MBA journey. Their guidance and encouragement greatly expanded my horizons and inspired me to aim higher. It has given me the strength to pursue my ambitions, which is a testament to the transformative power of the Babson MBA experience.”

How has Babson prepared you for the next stage of your career/life?

“The Babson MBA helped me develop my passion for human-centered design and innovation. It gave me a holistic understanding of business and a strategic, data-driven approach to decision-making. It prepared me for the next phase of my career and life.”

What made your companion special?

“What made our group stand out was the diverse backgrounds and personalities we brought together both in and out of the classroom. Our discussions ranged from insights into the unique team building of military veterans to a multinational augmented reality company. This diversity fosters a deep sense of community and creativity, making his time outside the classroom as enriching as his academic career. I did.”

What advice do you have for people considering pursuing an MBA at Babson?

“Babson goes beyond traditional business education and challenges you to see beyond what appears and discover opportunities others don’t see. Develop a positive mindset, take action and We encourage you to take a “learn by doing” approach.

“Babson has the mindset and tools to leverage the resources available from day one to achieve your goals, and now is the perfect time to embark on your entrepreneurial journey.”
