The Colombian Embassy in Seoul and South Korea’s Pro-Colombian Commerce Bureau are working to attract South Korean companies with expertise in electric vehicles and renewable energy to their country. They actively participated in the 2024 Korea International Electrical and Energy Industry Exhibition held at COEX in Seoul from April 3rd to 5th.

This year’s exhibition focused on the important role of electrical energy transmission and distribution equipment in the energy transition, electric vehicles and renewable energy generation.

Colombia’s participation included a seminar titled “Colombia as a Gateway to the Americas,” which focused on business expansion strategies from Colombia to Central America, South America, and North America. The seminar coincides with Colombia’s Industrialization and National Development Plan, which aims to decarbonize the country’s economy, and attracted significant interest from companies related to the sector.

The joint seminar, held in collaboration with ProColumbia, Invest Pacific, and the Korea Electrical Manufacturers Association (KOEMA), was attended by approximately 25 representatives from Korean companies. Presentations by Colombian Ambassador to Korea Alejandro Pelaez, Colombian Executive Director Shirley Vegapro, Invest Pacific Investment Manager Mauricio Concha, and KOEMA Vice President Lee Woo-sik provided insight into Colombia’s business environment and opportunities. Ta.

Meanwhile, the Embassy set up a booth providing detailed information about Colombia as an investment destination in the electrical equipment sector and highlighting the country’s capabilities as a platform for the export of these products to the Americas.

ProColombia is an agency under the Colombian Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism that promotes foreign investment, exports of value-added products and services, and tourism in the country. With offices in 28 countries, including South Korea, it plays an important role in strengthening trade relations between countries.

Invest Pacific is dedicated to promoting foreign direct investment in Colombia’s Valle del Cauca department, creating a favorable business environment across a variety of sectors.
