India is witnessing a surge in startup ventures, a trend that has accelerated since 2020 due to the popularity of entrepreneurial shows such as “Shark Tank India.” Inspired by the cultural shift, many individuals, especially women, are embarking on the entrepreneurial journey. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), around 20.37% of Indian women currently own small businesses, which translates to 23.3% of the workforce. This data further highlights the significant rise in women entrepreneurs in India. Below are 5 unique startup ideas for women to consider in 2024.

Healthcare Professionals

The healthcare sector is recession-proof. It is constantly evolving, offering plenty of opportunities for startups. Since the pandemic, there has been a rise in focus on health and wellness. Women entrepreneurs can take advantage of this trend and start with fitness centers, yoga and meditation studios, gyms, Zumba classes, etc.

Food & Beverage

The food and beverage industry is vibrant and full of potential. Women entrepreneurs can explore avenues like opening an Instagram-worthy cafe, bakery, cloud kitchen, restaurant or food truck. Home-based catering services are also a great option and can be started on a small scale.

Beauty Care Center

Self-care is now a necessity rather than a luxury. Hence, beauty and health services are in high demand. Women entrepreneurs can excel in this field and start spa and salon centres. They can also start bridal makeup studios and professional nail art studios.

Arts and Crafts

Women who have artistic talent and are interested in handicrafts can start a profitable business. The market for handmade products is growing. Consumers want unique and personalized items. Entrepreneurs can sell handmade jewelry, beading, art pieces, and other crafts. Products can be sold on platforms such as Etsy and Instagram.

Wedding Planning

Weddings are monumental events in people’s lives. Therefore, there is always a demand for skilled wedding planners. Women with good management and organizational skills can thrive in this field. They can handle everything from planning and coordinating to executing the perfect wedding. The wedding industry is lucrative and there are ample opportunities for those who can provide a memorable experience.
