EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — There is a unique opportunity for young people in the Effingham County area to learn the fundamentals of running their own business. Joining him at ciLiving from the Effingham County Chamber are Nicole Morrison, director of marketing and communications, and Jeff Fritchinich, interim president and CEO.

Are you the parent of a creative, curious, and ambitious 11-15 year old who wants to explore the world of entrepreneurship and make some money this summer? Look no further! The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Dau Consulting, is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Camp Startup, a dynamic entrepreneurship day camp and business pitch competition.
Camp Startup, scheduled to be held from May 28th to May 31st from 9am to 3pm daily at StangARTs, 112 W Washington Ave, Effingham, IL 62401, will give young minds the basics of getting started. Provides a unique opportunity to learn. Marketing, running your own business, or even collaborating with a friend to start a venture. Campers will benefit from hands-on guidance from local entrepreneurs and experienced camp counselors who will guide them through every step of their entrepreneurial journey. Throughout the camp, participants will: Turn their ideas and passions into money-making businesses. Participate in fun activities such as treasure hunts, guest speakers, tours, games, video/ad creation, and more. Participate in the “Think Big” Olympics and foster teamwork and creativity. Learn essential skills such as logo design and social media marketing. Let him compete for a chance to win $50 with the best business pitch. “We are pleased to announce our latest initiative, designed in direct response to the strategic goals outlined by our Board of Directors for 2023. At the forefront of our mission is the fostering of youth development within Effingham County. Our goal is to create a dedicated youth pipeline program tailored to the vibrant youth of our community. ” Lucinda Hart, CAE, MBA, IOM, President and CEO.

Camping fees are $189 per camper, and limited scholarships are available to qualified applicants. Additionally, sponsorships are welcome to support this enriching experience for local youth. Businesses interested in supporting this effort should contact the Chamber office at (217) 342-4147 by the March 29 deadline.
