Ahead of a busy recruiting summer, Texas A&M is still working on recruiting elite 2025 five-star wide receiver Kalik Lockett, who has deep ties to the program and has NFL-caliber receiving traits and extremely high potential.
Coach Mike Elko and his staff have done a solid job of keeping Lockett close to College Station through several unofficial camp visits this year (including his official visit on June 7), but Texas A&M’s biggest rival and SEC newcomer the Texas Longhorns are the favorites to land Lockett’s commitment.
On Tuesday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong released his initial prediction that the Longhorns would land Lockett, but scouting experts were quick to point out that LSU, Florida State and Texas A&M were still in the running before his prediction could be accepted as complete fact.
On the field, Lockett stands 6’2″ tall and weighs 175 pounds and is one of the best receivers in his class. He has an impressive 6’7″ wingspan and strong handles that make him a red zone nightmare, and he also has the speed and fluid route-running skills to bewilder boundary corners on go routes and post routes.
Lockett is currently ranked as the No. 11 player in his class, the No. 2 wide receiver and the No. 4 player in Texas, according to 247Sports. The Saxe (Texas) native is coming off a highly productive junior 2023 campaign in which he recorded 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns.
