The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Institute (https://IsDBInstitute.org/) has announced that the 18th IsDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance will be held on April 28, 2024 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. . It will be held in conjunction with the IsDB Group Annual General Meeting and Golden Jubilee Celebration.
Held annually as a flagship side event to the Annual General Meeting, this year’s Forum brings together thought leaders, policy makers, financial experts and other stakeholders from the Islamic finance industry to promote sustainable development. discuss innovative tools.
The forum, themed “Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Leadership in Islamic Finance”, will feature a keynote address by Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the IsDB Group. Dr. Stephen Groff, Governor of the Saudi National Development Fund; and engineer Mutlaq H. Al-Morished, CEO of Tasnee Corporation;
The forum will host an award ceremony for the winners of the 2024 IsDB Prize for Influential Achievements in Islamic Economics. Professor Mehmet Astay, Professor of Middle East and Islamic Political Economy and Finance at Durham University, received this award in recognition of his significant and influential contribution to the field of Islamic economics and finance.
The forum will then host two sessions. The first is a panel aimed at exploring the pivotal role of entrepreneurship in promoting sustainable development, particularly within the Islamic finance paradigm. The panelists for the session will be Mohammad Abdulhamed Al Mubarak, CEO of Madinah Knowledge Economic City. The second session will introduce the Smart Stabilization System, a patent-pending algorithm to increase stability in financial markets, developed by IsDB Institute and implemented by blockchain company SettleMint. The discussants will be Matthew Van Niekerk, founder and CEO of SettleMint, and his manager, Dr. Hilal Houssain, an associate on the IsDBI Knowledge Solutions team.
The forum will also see the launch of a new IsDBI report entitled ‘Promoting Social Entrepreneurship through Islamic Finance’ which explores the potential of Islamic finance to support social entrepreneurship and impact investing.
The IsDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance is an annual high-level forum launched in 2006 as a platform for strategic policy dialogue on knowledge and innovation in Islamic finance and development.
