New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll is preparing for his third NFL season as the team’s head coach. In his first season, Daboll went 9-7-1 and made the playoffs, but in his second season he went 6-11 and did not make the playoffs.
The second episode of Hard Knocks airs Tuesday night at 9pm ET on HBO. This is the offseason edition, and head coach Brian Daboll wasn’t featured much in the first episode, which was more focused on the Giants’ front office, specifically general manager Joe Sean.
But in the first episode, after the Giants parted ways with Wink Martindale during the offseason, Daboll spoke to Sean about the hiring of new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. Daboll read Bowen’s defensive data to Sean and praised the run defense and red zone defense data he could provide. One thing New York has lacked thus far is a serious pass rush.
In the second episode, we’ll get more of an inside look at the NFL Draft Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana. Head coach Brian Daboll and members of the New York Giants front office were in attendance and scouting other college football players. It’ll be interesting to see what happened behind the scenes.

The second episode was at the scouting combine, with Daboll and other Giants executives watching from the press box. Brian Daboll said:
“I guarantee you it can run 40 mph in 7.0 seconds.”
The other Giants guys with him are wondering if he can do it. Here’s the video:

But that may not be one of the most important questions New York Giants fans want to know at “Hard Knocks” on Tuesday night. One of the most important questions they want to know is which players they liked and didn’t like throughout the scouting combine.

The Giants selected Louisiana State wide receiver Malik Neighbors with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but what happened before that led to the Giants selecting him? They also passed on Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy with that pick.
Did they prefer Neighbors over Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr.? New York also scouted University of Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze and other quarterbacks during the offseason.
