The heat will ease on Tuesday, and by Wednesday Sacramento will be hot.
It’s so cool. It’s not like it’s in the 90s in most places. Yeah. I’m the first to say that as you’re walking outside this morning, you can actually feel a little bit of cooler air because of the Delta winds. Yes, it’s in the 60s this morning in most areas around Sacramento County, especially extending into Yolo and Solano counties. In the Stockton area, you’re waking up in the 60s and getting ready to watch the sunrise. Looking east from the Port City. It’s 67 degrees right now in Stockton. Still great walking weather to get out and start exercising. It’s 61 degrees right now in Sacramento, 71 degrees in Modesto. 46 degrees in Lake Tahoe. What’s really changing the weather this morning is this sea fog. It’s getting thicker along the California coast, which I don’t think is a surprise. You can already see a little bit of fog this morning, the fog line smearing in the coastal foothills. If you’re driving up 80 towards Fairfield, you’re definitely going to see some fog. And in the next few hours, the fog may spread to parts of Yolo County. Here’s the weather forecast for the valley today. As a result, many areas will have cooler temperatures than yesterday. Most of the central valley will have temperatures in the mid to upper 90s Fahrenheit. Delta Breeze will pick up again in the foothills tonight and will continue to blow through the night. It’s still going to be a warm day today. We’ve already seen it rise to 97 degrees by lunchtime, and it could rise to 100 to 102 degrees in places like Placerville, Auburn, and Sonora. So, beware of the heat, especially if you work outdoors in the Sierra for a living. It’s still going to be a very warm day today by Sierra standards. We’ll see it rise to the mid to low 90s by lunchtime. But we expect some days to watch out for in the long-range forecast going into Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We’ll see warmer mornings and cooler temperatures by the weekend, and we’ll see more changes. Let’s talk about the ridge position that will make a big difference. The ridge will start to weaken again today, shifting eastward, and the ocean influence will bring temperatures down. The ridge will continue to extend westward during the day on Wednesday, and will continue to do so on Wednesday and Thursday. This will be the start of more heat to come. Temperatures will be over 105 degrees. Weather to watch out for. On Friday, it will still be pretty hot in the area. On Saturday, we will have a strengthening Delta Breeze system, dropping temperatures back down to the mid to upper 90s. Be patient. We will eventually see an uptick over the next 7 days. But today we are trending downwards, with the upper 90s being pretty widespread. Highs will be 108 degrees on Wednesday, and most notably 110 degrees on Thursday. Thursday
The heat will ease on Tuesday, and by Wednesday Sacramento will be hot.
