The Palacio de Congresos and Colegio Arzobispo Fonseca will host the new edition of Startup OLÉ Salamanca ’24, one of the largest entrepreneurship and innovation events in Europe and Latin America, from 8 to 10 October 2024.The initiative aims to connect entrepreneurs and startups/scaleups with investors, corporations, governments, media and other actors of the global ecosystem in a business-friendly environment, with the ultimate goal of creating wealth and jobs.
To this end, Startup OLÉ Salamanca will host forums on investment and enterprise, cybersecurity (CIBER-SHUBE), accelerators, public administration, media, universities, Ibero-American, rural innovation, hackathons, etc. There will also be exclusive content with great speakers in roundtables and plenary sessions, a startup fair, a pitch competition, business rounds and networking activities including cocktails and concerts, during which Salamanca will become the international capital of entrepreneurship and investment. Startup OLÉ 2023 attracted approximately 2,500 event participants, over 800 top speakers, 230 startups, and over 150 investors and companies, bringing together celebrities and entrepreneurs from 29 countries.
Now in its 11th year, the fair is supported by businesses, investors and organisations. Iberdrola, Acciona, Cepsa, Fundación Once, Talgo, Enagás Emprende, SpainCap, RTVE, Renfe, Iberia, Mondragón, the Stock Exchange (BME), Across Legal, Red Cross, ClarkeModet, Letslaw, Caja Rural de Salamanca, etc. Among public institutions, Startup OLÉ is supported by CDTI INNVIERTE, Enisa, EOI, ICO Axis, INCIBE, the Andalusian Government, the Community of Madrid Government, the City of Salamanca, the Public Administration of Salamanca and the University of Salamanca.
Plus, we’ll have some fantastic international speakers. Some of the most influential figures include Guillermo Jiménez, CEO of Axis; Pilar Carrato, CTO of CDTI; Carlos Blanco, Co-founder of Encomenda Smart Capital; José Zudaile, CEO of SpainCap; Jesús González, CEO of BME Growth; Joe Chee, President of the United States Chamber of Commerce (CAMACOL); Pablo Zarba, Head of Regulatory and Public Policy at Deloitte; Sarah Goldberg, Secretary General of URUCAP; Luis Bermejo, Managing Partner at Alaya Capital; Ajit Abraham, Vice President of Bennett University; Johannia de Armas, Managing Director of Connector Iberoamerica; Carlos Capataz, Director of Technical Services at Cruz Roja and María Isabel Martín, CEO of Caja Rural de Salamanca. In the Institutional category, the speakers will be Carlos García Carvalho, Mayor of Salamanca, Francisco Javier Iglesias, Governor of Salamanca, Marina Villegas, Director of Research and Innovation for the Community of Madrid, Francisco Javier González, Director of Entrepreneurship and Continuing Education Promotion for the Andalusian Government, and Emilio Corchado, CEO and founder of Startup OLÉ, will host the event.
The event is also part of a strategic project being implemented in Spain within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the Next Generation EU Fund.
Within the framework of Startup OLÉ Salamanca, the CDTI- INNVIERTE IBEROAMÉRICA Forum will also be held, with several activities aimed at presenting the CDTI- INNVIERTE program, the benefits of participating, how to participate in the form of approved co-investor funds, and other topics that generate added value related to the creation of an Ibero-American entrepreneurship and investment ecosystem (such as investment or co-investment issues), all focusing on the interesting aspect of supporting the creation of a large Spanish-led Ibero-American ecosystem and facilitating investment and co-investment in innovative Spanish technology-based companies.
INCIBE Strategic Projects
The National Cybersecurity Institute is an organization under the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Public Functioning through the National Office of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, and is integrated as a reference organization for the development of cybersecurity and digital trust for citizens and businesses, a driver of social transformation, an opportunity for innovation, and R&D&I and talent development.
INCIBE’s specific mission is to increase the cybersecurity capacity of society and the economy as a whole, through programs aimed at promoting and creating knowledge and its transfer to productive sectors, by establishing synergies between the social and economic spheres of cybersecurity.To this end, a Grant Program for Excellence in Advanced Research Teams in Cybersecurity was launched in 2018. To provide continuity to this strategy, for 2022, specifically on December 5th, an open call for collaboration in the promotion of strategic cybersecurity projects in Spain was announced.
These efforts are part of the Global Security Innovation Programme contained in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) through Component 15. Investment 7 Cybersecurity: Strengthening the capacity of citizens, SMEs and professionals to revitalise the sector.
Strategic projects are a way of providing concrete solutions to some of the greatest scientific and technological challenges facing our society and economy. These are designed to foster the application of research and innovation results, combine new forms of governance and collaboration, and engage citizens with productive and social structures.
