Revolución Educativa (RevEd) and the Latinx Education Collaborative (LEC) will host free entrepreneurship classes for Spanish-speaking adults at 2202 Lexington Ave. on the third Thursday of each month from Aug. 20 through November from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
These four adult courses will be offered exclusively in Spanish, and participants will have the opportunity to learn from Kansas City resources such as the City of Kansas City’s BizCare office, a city program to promote economic growth in the city. Each session will accommodate up to 30 participants and provide child care services for children ages 3-11.
Each class will provide skills on how to structure your company and financial foundation, as well as tips on starting, growing and pivoting your business. Interested parties can sign up for individual course sessions or the entire series.
Ivan Ramirez, director of digital experiences at RevEd, said opportunities like entrepreneurship classes can be used as a stepping stone to preparing future generations.
“Their success stories can inspire other aspiring entrepreneurs in the community, show them that starting a business is possible and encourage others to follow their dreams,” Ramirez said. “Their businesses can contribute to the revitalization of the area, attract more investment and overall improve the quality of life for our residents.”
Ramirez said these expansions bring jobs to the area and “foster a sense of belonging for our residents.” Northeast Kansas City’s diverse roots help local businesses grow, which in turn improves the region’s economy.
“By starting their own businesses, participants in this series are able to provide employment opportunities for residents and increase economic stability for their families,” Ramirez said. “They can bring new cultural perspectives and diversity to Kansas City’s local business community.”
