The investment will expand New Path Community Housing, an apartment complex that provides transitional housing and supportive services.
BOISE, Idaho — The City of Boise is making a major investment in transitional housing for its most vulnerable residents. The city announced plans to invest in new housing for residents transitioning out of homelessness.
The investment will expand a project called New Path Community Housing, an apartment complex near downtown that provides affordable housing and supportive services.
Supportive services include case management, health care and counseling designed to help people transition out of homelessness.
New Path currently has 40 apartments and the new expansion is set to add 95 new apartments over the next two years.
“Supportive housing is a proven solution to homelessness,” said Nikki Hellenkamp, housing advisor for the City of Boise. “It provides both a safe, affordable place for people to live and the services to help them secure housing and thrive in their communities.”
New Path is similar to another complex in Boise called Valor Point, which provides housing and supportive services to veterans.
On Tuesday, the city of Boise announced it would partner with Pacific Companies to provide $5.5 million in gap financing for the expansion. Funding for the project will also come from private philanthropic donors and federal funding.
The city expects residents to start moving into the new apartments in two years.
