ROCHESTER — Architechne, a company that designs lighting, audio, video and other home technology systems, plans to open a new Rochester showroom in August.

“Jim said we needed a facility like this in Rochester, especially,” said Stanley. Mayo Clinic “We’re expanding. Customers don’t want to drive two hours,” Orndorff said. “So Jim said, ‘I want you to carry on the legacy I left behind.'” Westra sold Amalgamated in 2011.
Orndorff describes Architechne’s staff as “technology craftsmen” who create and install custom technology plans for clients.

Orndorff is leading construction on the Broadway-front space, which will hold a grand opening event on Aug. 8. Arquitechne will join other commercial tenants at Brück, including Nate Nordstrom’s New Spin Bicycle Shop;
and Dara Coutts Socius Design Studio will open soon.
The Architechne showroom will initially be staffed by Orndorff and one technician, but the company plans to eventually add more staff in Rochester.
“We’re looking to hire young people to join an apprenticeship program with us. We want to grow this business organically and hire from within the city of Rochester,” he said.
